Grand Junction Design is making an effort to have as little impact on the environment as possible. These are the steps we're taking:
- Hosting - We recommend our clients host their web sites with AISO when suitable. AISO is a wholly solar-powered hosting company that has been around since 1998. GJD's web site is 100% solar-powered.
- Telecommuting - We encourage our employees to telecommute, which cuts down on car emissions and traffic, and gives our employees more time in their days. In addition, it means there is less office space to power, clean, and maintain.
- Laptops - The majority of our employees use laptops, which consume far less energy than standard desktop computers.
- Recycling - All paper in our office is recycled three times:
- We purchase recycled paper.
- We reuse any paper that has only been printed on one side (if there is no sensitive information).
- We recycle all of the paper used in the office (all sensitive information is shredded first).
- Use Less - Our office space has windows that open, providing for more healthy office air and less need for heating and cooling. We use space heaters, so that only necessary spaces are heated.
- Wind power - As of January 2008, GJD's headquarters office is using 100% clean and emissions-free wind power.
- Fair Trade - As of February 2008, our office is serving only organic, fair trade coffee.
