The White House recently re-launched their website on Drupal! This is a huge milestone for Drupal, and for the open source movement in general. Dries Buytaert, the founder of Drupal, blogs about it here.
Some key points:
- It's a great match for President Obama's emphasis on having an open and transparent government.
- Drupal's marriage of easy content management, plus social and community-oriented publishing, make it easy to facilitate open communication.
- It supports the goals of reducing cost and acting quickly. Drupal will enable them to add new functionality going forward as their needs evolve.
- Open source software saves the White House from dependency on any particular proprietary provider, and positions them to take advantage of the ongoing innovation of Drupal's big, strong developer community.
Congratulations to the White House, and to the entire Drupal community!
