We are dedicated to creating effective web site designs for your organization. However, the needs of each organization can be very different. In order to present you with a design that is a perfect fit, there are some things we need to know about the needs, preferences and overall personality of your organization.
Here is a guideline for some information we will need from you. This information will help us get on the right track to creating an appealing and accurate visual representation of your organization:
General:
- What are your goals for the site?
- Who is the audience you wish to reach?
- How will you measure your site's performance and evaluate its success?
Content:
Design:
- Does your organization have a logo?
- Does your group have any defining colors (perhaps the colors in the logo)?
- Do you have photos and/or graphics that you would like to use (such as photos of staff members or past events)?
- Do you prefer a fixed width design or a fluid design? (A fixed width design would not expand to fill the browser window left-to-right, and will look the same on all web browsers and monitor resolutions; a fluid design will expand to fill the width of the browser window, no matter the size. Examples: Fixed site / Fluid site.)
Additional Site/Communication Requirements:
- Will you require an intranet (password-protected section of the site)?
- Who will be able to access the intranet?
- Are different people able to access different areas? For example, some areas are limited to board only, others to staff only?
- Will you require a bulletin board or discussion forum?
- Will the general public be able to read the forum?
- Should users be able to post new topics, or only be able to reply to topics you create?
- Will you require any training on the moderator functions for the forum?
- Will you be selling anything on the site (merchandise or promotional materials)?
- Will you be taking donations online through your site?
- Will you need any blogging capabilities?
- Should site visitors have the ability to comment on blog posts?
- Will you require a calendar function?
- Do you want people to be able to submit new events?
- Can people register online for an event?
- Will you be sending out any email newsletters? (If so, how regularly?)
- Will you be collecting information from your site visitors through the site (such as email addresses, newsletter subscriptions, or user information provided for forum registrations, etc.)?
- Will you need search engine optimization (SEO) services?
Post-Launch:
- Will you be maintaining your site or will you need webmaster services?
- If you will be maintaining your site, will you require any training?
- If you will be maintaining your site, are you comfortable with html or will you require a web-based content management system?
- How would you like to market your site (how do you want to promote your site after it is created)?
We want to be sure that we can present you with a site design that as unique as your organization is. We greatly appreciate the time spent to provide us with this useful information.
